Book Summary

Henry and his sister, Meredith can hardly wait for Grandma to arrive for a visit. But what should they expect? Among the children’s diverse friends and their grandmothers who bake, create art, and speak Spanish, will Grandma be able to share something unique and fun with the kids?
Henry’s fears are alleviated when, not long after arrival, they flutter like butterflies, slither like snakes, and enjoy other challenges of stretching their muscles and calming their minds. This is no run-of-the-mill grandma, and when it’s time for goodbye, the kids know this was the BEST grandma visit ever.

How to make a Yogi gift bag – a perfect present any time of year!
By Raven Howell
If you have a yoga lover or even a “want-to-get-into-yoga” friend or family member in your life, here’s a fun and easy way to create a gift bag that’s thoughtful and simple to pull together.
I’m often found perusing indie-owned shops and health stores, and you’ll find many of the gifts I incorporate can be purchased in these types of venues. Etsy is good to explore as an alternative, and there’s always a variety of options from Amazon if you prefer to order online. The items I’ve compiled are available in a wide price range, so it’s convenient to budget.
Over the years, I’ve received the most appreciative feedback from the following goodies. Plus, they’re appropriate for either gender.
Tea
There are several tea options conducive for yogis. Green, black and oolong teas are good for drinking before an active practice. Peppermint or chamomile are wonderful for after yoga since they enhance relaxation.
Soap bars such as lavender
Look for natural ingredients. I enjoy the plant-based ones. Pick up one of those cute “yoga” shaped soaps, like a lotus flower design, which adds visual appeal.
Yoga tee shirt
My husband loves his simple, cozy black tee with a small yoga symbol printed on the side of the chest. Look for sales -there are loads of tee shirts with fun sayings like “life happens, yoga helps” or “yoga instructor/spiritual gangster”.
Candle
I’ve taken yoga classes where gentle candlelight was used as a backdrop. Citrus scents bring brightness and an uplifting atmosphere while woody scents like Sandalwood are best for slower paced practices.
Yoga mat spray
A favorite is eucalyptus and tee tree oil for cleansing and refreshing the surface.
Yoga crystal or stone
Amethyst is my go-to. It’s readily available and beneficial for aligning with tranquility and fostering spiritual growth. Another favorite is clear quartz, versatile for amplifying yoga practices and fostering meditation. Palm sized always works!
These also fit the yoga theme perfectly:
- Foot roller/brush
- Namaste mindfulness/affirmation cards
- Cooling towel
- Yoga mat straps for carrying
Assemble the items in a wicker basket or medium sized gift bag. Add a
balloon for birthdays or corresponding colorful ribbon for holidays. It not
only makes the receiver feel special because you personally chose the
items, but you’ll find it’s super rewarding for your own soul. You’re sharing a
part of your own loving energy.
