LOST HEART IN KING MANOR
Book One in the Mysteries of a Heart Series
At 45, Gabby Heart isn’t looking for drama—just quiet days on Dost Island running her village
gift shop, teaching art, and keeping her past tucked safely away. But when her mother suffers a
sudden health crisis, Gabby is pulled into a storm of family secrets, betrayal, and a dark legacy
buried within the walls of the once-grand King Manor. What was supposed to be a safe place for
her mother’s recovery becomes the backdrop for a chilling mystery. Strange incidents begin to
unfold, and it becomes clear: someone inside King Manor has a deadly agenda. As a hurricane
traps Gabby inside the sprawling estate, she’s forced to work alongside two very different
men—her maddeningly attractive officemate and a charming new neighbor, both hiding dark
secrets. One man may want her heart. The other may want her dead.
But can she trust her instincts before it’s too late?
★ A slow-burn romantic suspense with an edgy cozy mystery twist peppered with humor, Lost
Heart in King Manor is perfect for fans of strong women over 40, amateur sleuths, brooding men

Because some secrets are worth killing for.
And some hearts don’t break quietly.

Author Details
I have an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in education and have worked in higher education for over thirty-
years. A former educator and lifelong reader, I began writing seriously at age 60. No one is more
surprised than me, that in retirement, I found reward and occupation as an author.
My writing is fueled by a lifelong love of mystery and a fascination with the complexities of the
human heart. As a widow, mother of adult twin sons, proud grandmother, dog lover, and semi-
retired educator, I believe I have enough real-world experience to weave imagination with insight
to create stories rich with emotion and suspense. My work blends romance, mystery, and
heart—with healthy doses of humor and hope. I feel passionate about helping others realize that
creativity doesn’t have an expiration date.
When I’m not writing, reading, or plotting another plot twist, I like to explore small towns across
America—setting out solo for month-long adventures much to the awe (and occasional alarm) of
family and friends. My latest obsessions include escape rooms, mastering the perfect miter cut
for a DIY bathroom remodel, training my cavalier spaniel to do a high five, and making the
impossible decision of where to travel next.

Character Interview
Celeste Fenton, author of Lost Heart in King Manor –Book One in the Mysteries of a
Heart series
Interview with Gabby Heart
Hello, I am Gabby Heart…it is very nice to be here!
Describe yourself.
I’m an artist with a tendency to dig up secrets—sometimes in paint, sometimes in real life. I live on Dost Island – a sweet place off the coast of Massachusetts. I help run our family gift shop with my mother Connie and daughter Valentine. Yes, I named her…don’t judge! I teach art at the Lifelong Learning Institute. I also illustrate a children’s book series for my best friend, Abe, who somehow still trusts me with her whimsical characters despite my moody color palette. People say I’m complicated. I say I’m
layered. Like a good oil painting or a bad decision.
What makes you laugh?
Watching Lola pretend to be patient. It’s like watching a toddler balance a three-tiered wedding cake.
Are you afraid of anything?
Intimacy. Abandonment. Letting people see too much. Snakes. I know some are good, but I strike with the shovel first, check if its venomous later. And those pop-up ads that know exactly what I’m thinking about buying. That’s sorcery.
Do you have a special talent or gift? Perspective for other people’s issues and problems.
I see things others miss. Shadows, clues, emotional shifts. People’s problems. Things they’re hiding from themselves. I’d like to think I can do the same for myself, but I can’t.
Do you have a secret?
Hell’s bells! One? No. Several. Some old. Some recent. Some that keep me awake at night, and one in particular I swore I’d never speak aloud. But secrets are like splinters—eventually, they work their way out.
Tell us about your family.
I come from a long line of tough New England women—stubborn as driftwood, sharp as sea glass. My grandmother started Ocean Current, our family shop, back when women weren’t “supposed” to run businesses. My mother, Connie, expanded it with grit and style, and the ability to survive a nor’easter with her lipstick intact and every hair in place. My daughter Valentine is stronger and wiser than I was at her age. She’s in grad school and has her own online archive business. And I recently reconnected with a family member I didn’t know I had. Family, for me, is complicated—but fiercely loved.
Who is the most important person in your life?
My daughter. Always.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
Well, I have many, but one in particular comes to mind. Lola, Abe, and I went out to a party. It was raining, the lights went out, and on my way to the bathroom I screamed so loud everybody came running. I thought I’d seen a ghost in the hall mirror. Turns out, it was my own reflection. In my defense,
the humidity had turned my red hair into a frizzy mess…just like a clown wig.
I hate my hair. Lola still makes spooky noises every time we pass a mirror.
Oh, and there was this time…never mind. Next question?
What do you do for fun?
I read. I sketch. I do yoga. And I collect quotes so I can keep one-upping Jay in our little war of words. Don’t tell him…I want him to think I just know these lines. I teach art to people who think they can’t draw—and I love when they see they can. Lately, I’ve discovered I like poking at mysteries until they unravel. Turns out, I’m pretty good at it.
If you could change anything about your life what would it be?
I’d have trusted myself sooner. Forgiven myself faster. And maybe believed I was worth loving before someone else had to prove it.
Tell me about your author.
Celeste Fenton? Hmm… she’s on her laptop a lot. She writes like someone who’s survived something—and turned the ashes into art. She’s the reason I get to be messy and real and still stumble into love and purpose. Also, I suspect she enjoys putting me in emotionally compromising situations. And she
definitely has way too much fun watching me drool over a certain someone. Did you know she wrote another book, Captive Heart in Brantmar Castle, about me surviving danger, romance, and solving mysteries? And three more after that!
Hell’s bells!
Do you like the way she writes you?
Yes. Even when she writes the pain too raw or pushes me toward truths I’d rather leave buried, she always gives me space to grow. I’m not a caricature—I’m a work in progress. And somehow, she makes that beautiful. That said, I do have a habit of waking her up in the middle of the night with more ideas.
Another twist, another secret, another line I want to revise. She pretends to be annoyed, but she always listens. Eventually. Lately, though, I’ve had to fight for her attention—Rick wants more page time, Jay keeps smirking like he knows he’s the favorite, and Lola? She’s practically staging a coup. Good luck
keeping that woman in the background.
Thank you very much, this was fun!
