In ancient Rome, young Gabrielus leaves his humble village to become a protector of the emperor. He dreams of bringing glory and wealth to his family and returning a hero to his love, Jennamine. At the base of a mountain in Connecticut sits a peach orchard in a quiet neighborhood. Here, hawks soar high as coyotes slink among the trees, leaving trails of wisdom and mystery. In the early hours, the veil between worlds is as thin as the morning mist. This is where Daniel E. Chambrello sits and thinks. As the youngest of five, Daniel is a born observer, preferring solitude as he questions everything from consciousness to Catholic doctrine. While journeying and experiencing love, heartbreak, and so much in between, Daniel’s knowing has expanded, and his questions have grown deeper. When a good friend handed him a book by a spiritual teacher, it was a life-defining moment, confirming all Daniel had known as truth and further kindling a story that he’d felt called to write since childhood. In this ethos, Daniel’s first novel sprung forth—a spiritual guidebook weaving together love, adventure, and truths that are best felt rather than described.

Guest Post from Daniel E. Chambrello

Create a Life That Reflects Your True Spirit

Your essence is freedom: a state of being without bondage, limitation, and restraint. Your
essence is your intrinsic nature—your true spirit, and you can create a life that reflects
your ultimate freedom.
We can shift out of a society living in a culture of mindless consumerism, hyper-
competitiveness, the relentless pursuit of “success” and worse of all, a state of blind
obedience.
What exactly does it mean to be a sovereign spiritual being, and how can you “be” that in
life? It means that you have your own inner light guiding you. You are unique, with your
own amazing rhythm, and you were never intended to be molded into a conformist.
Of course, we have to stop at traffic lights when they’re red. There’s a large framework of
fair, reasonable, and logical rules and behaviors that we must all agree to in order to live in
peace and harmony (and not crash our cars into each other). But relinquishing your true
self, and the inner peace that comes with that freedom, is not natural. Therein lies much of
our individual and collective angst.
It’s our right to reclaim our sovereignty over our own lives, and as a result our freedom,
which will bring us into alignment with our true spirit, resulting in inner peace. How? It’s
really very simple. Not easy, but simple.

  1. Above all else, remember that you are eternal and infinite and that life is so very
    temporary.
  2. Take a step back and reflect—what in your personal life looks right to you? What
doesn’t look right to you? What in your personal life feels right to you? What
doesn’t? Make a short list of the ones that resonate the most (a long list could feel
    overwhelming).
  3. Look at your list of things that don’t look and feel right to you, and pick one to
change. I suggest starting with something easy (but if a major life change is in the
cards, don’t let me stop you!).
  4. If you succeed in transcending the thing from your list that you picked, then
celebrate that. Give yourself credit. Giving myself credit when it was well deserved
was something it took me many years to learn to do.
  5. If you “fail,” give yourself credit for trying. Then try again.
Remember, failure does not truly exist—it’s an illusion.
  6. Be authentic—no one knows better than you who you really are, and no one knows
better than you how you’re not “being” these things.
  7. Trust your inner knowing above all. Your truth isn’t what the media says, and it’s not
the domain of the people in power, whose sole focus is gaining more power, or of
the people who want to keep you in a perpetual cycle of ever-increasing
    consumption.
  8. Take time to be still and quiet—your angels, guides and divinity can’t help you if
they can’t get through to you.
  9. Show yourself true grace (kindness, understanding, and patience). Yes, you are
worthy of it in all ways. “God’s grace” is a post for a different day, but know for now
that what we’ve been told about God’s grace is not true.
Life is very challenging. Living in a constant state of freedom while in the human condition
may not be realistic—I know I can’t do it. But we can always reach for it. In the moments
that I am not feeling or “being” consistent with my intrinsic nature, I can show myself grace.
And I breathe. And then I follow the steps listed above.
Are you living a life consistent with your true spirit? How do you do it?
The light in me sees and deeply honors the light in you,
    —DC
