Personalized Mason Jar:
Transform a simple mason jar into a customized DIY craft gift by painting it in Dad’s favorite colors and adding his initials. Fill it with his favorite treats, such as homemade cookies, candies, or small items like golf balls or bottle cap fishing lures if he enjoys outdoor activities.
Mason jars can be the perfect DIY Father’s Day gifts to keep your kids busy while you get your work done. And each kid can make their own special gift.
Handmade Gift Basket:
Create a themed gift basket tailored to Dad’s interests. For the golf-loving dad, include golf balls, tees, and a small putting mat. For the coffee enthusiast, fill the basket with gourmet coffee beans, a personalized mug, and some sweet treats to enjoy with his favorite brew.

DIY Photo Books or Blankets
Gather your favorite photos of Dad and the whole family and create a personalized photo book. You can use free printables or online platforms to design and print the book. Arrange the photos chronologically or by theme, and add captions or small anecdotes to make it even more special.
Canva is one of my favorite ways to create custom images. It’s packed with frames and clipart to design a picture book in celebration of father in a fun way. And I love using Snapfish or Shutterfly to print high-quality picture books, blankets, pillows, and stationery.
Unique Father’s Day Photo Frames
Start by selecting a plain wooden or cardboard frame that you can easily decorate. Consider your dad’s taste and style when choosing the colors and design. You can use paint, markers, or even decoupage to add patterns, designs, or meaningful quotes.
And consider adding small trinkets or objects that represent his favorite activities, such as miniature golf clubs or guitar picks. Custom photo frames are easy crafts for young kids and one of the cheapest handmade gift ideas.
Insert a special photo of you and your dad that holds sentimental value. It could be a picture from a memorable trip, a family gathering, or a candid moment. This personalized photo frame will serve as a cherished keepsake that your dad can display proudly.
Quality Time Coupons
Design and create coupons that Dad can redeem for quality time activities like a movie night, a picnic in the park, a hike, or a game night with the family. Get creative with the designs and use colorful paper or cardstock. Punch holes in the coupons and bind them together with a ribbon or keyring.
This unique idea can be a great way to lure older children into spending time with the entire family – a rarity as kids get older. And it’s a thoughtful gift that many dads can appreciate as more than a simple DIY gift.
Handmade Bottle Cap Fishing Lures
Collect bottle caps and turn them into fishing lures by attaching hooks and adding colorful designs. Paint the bottle caps in vibrant colors, add patterns or small stickers, and apply a clear sealant to protect the design. Dad will appreciate the thought and effort put into this unique and practical gift.
These types of DIY projects can require supervision. And it might not be the best choice for a last minute gift, as it can take a bit of time to create and set up.
Customized Personalized Coasters
Coasters are both practical and decorative, making them an ideal DIY gift for Father’s Day. Start with plain coasters made of cork, wood, or ceramic. Consider your dad’s style when choosing the materials. You can paint the coasters with acrylic paint, create unique designs using fabric and Mod Podge, or even personalize them with photos using decoupage techniques. Once the coasters are decorated, seal them with a waterproof sealer or clear varnish to protect them from moisture and ensure their durability.
An easy craft project for Father’s Day is to use wood stain and sealant to create beautiful and durable coasters. Cut squares or circles from wood pieces, sand the edges, and apply the wood stain according to the product instructions. Add a personal touch by engraving Dad’s initials or a special message using a wood-burning tool or a small chisel.
You can also use sublimation blank coasters for unique Father’s Day gifts, but this option does require the use of a sublimation machine and ink. Need Father’s Day sublimation images? Check out this Father’s Day graphics bundle.23
Dad Joke Coffee Mugs or Tumblers
Personalize plain coffee mugs with Dad’s favorite jokes or puns using ceramic markers. Write funny phrases, doodle illustrations, or create a comic strip on the mug’s surface. Bake the mugs in the oven at a low temperature to set the design permanently.
I recommend getting a dedicated convection oven or a purposed mug press. Cricut makes an awesome mug press that’s excellent for beginners. But I make all of my mugs and tumblers with my 8-in-1 Vector heat press. But this tumbler convection oven is on my wishlist for my birthday next month.
Start with a plain ceramic coffee mug that you can easily customize. Choose ceramic markers or paints that are dishwasher safe. Consider your dad’s hobbies, interests, or favorite quotes when designing the mug. You can create a simple design with his initials or a more elaborate illustration.
Alternatively, you can write a heartfelt message or a funny quote that will bring a smile to his face every time he enjoys a cup of coffee or tea. Make sure to follow the instructions on the markers or paints to set the design properly.
Family Photo Collage
Create a collage of family photos in the shape of the word “DAD” or any other meaningful shape. Print the photos in various sizes, cut them into the desired shapes, and arrange them on sturdy backing. Use adhesive or double-sided tape to secure the photos. Frame it for a sentimental gift that Dad can proudly display.

DIY Photo Puzzle
Turn a favorite family photo into a puzzle using a photo transfer technique. Print the photo on a piece of transfer paper, following the instructions on the transfer paper packaging. Apply the transfer to a blank puzzle board or use a craft knife to cut the photo into puzzle pieces. Place the puzzle pieces in a small bag or box with a printed copy of the original photo for reference.

Homemade Sweet Treats
Everyone knows the way to Dad’s heart is through the stomach. One of the best DIY ideas for a dad with a sweet tooth is to grace Dad’s special day with favorite snacks that Dad loves.
Bake Dad’s favorite treats, whether it’s cookies, brownies, or a special cake. Choose flavors and ingredients that he loves, and present them in a decorative box or tin. Consider adding a personal touch by icing the treats with messages like “Best Dad Ever” or “Dad, You Rock!” Homemade snacks can be a great last-minute gift when all else fails.
Another great idea for kids is to serve Dad dinner for a change instead of him cooking for you. Check out this kid’s cookbook for simple, delicious, and healthy meals for kids of all ages.
DIY Sports Ball Soap
Homemade soaps can be great gift ideas for all occasions. And it’s not just a Father’s Day activity. One of my favorite homemade gift ideas for Father’s Day crafts is to make soap to give as Dad’s gift. You can customize the scents and shapes of the soap. And you can even sell it on Etsy or as an Amazon Associate for a nice profitable side hustle.
Mold soap into the shape of a soccer ball using a silicone mold. Mix glycerin soap base with soap dye or mica powder to achieve the desired color. Pour the melted soap into the mold, let it cool, and solidify, then remove the soap ball from the mold. Wrap it in a clear plastic bag or place it in a decorative soap dish.
DIY Tie Rack
If your dad has a lot of ties, a simple idea for a Father’s Day gift could be to make a DIY tie rack. Build a customized tie rack using wood, paint, and hooks. Measure and cut a piece of wood to the desired length, sand the edges and paint it in Dad’s favorite color.
Attach hooks evenly spaced along the wood for long ties, and clips are a better choice for bow tie storage. Add a personal touch by painting or carving his name or initials. Mount the tie rack on the wall or inside the closet for a practical and stylish gift.
Personalized Keychain
Use metal stamping tools to create a keychain with Dad’s initials or a special message. Choose a durable metal, such as aluminum or brass, and stamp the letters or words onto the metal blanks. Attach the keychain to a keyring or a small carabiner for easy use.
I prefer to use sublimation blank keychains that heat transfers an image onto the blank. You can also use HTV – heat-transfer vinyl for custom keychains.
Handmade Wall Art
Get creative with paints, stencils, or markers to design and create unique wall art that reflects Dad’s favorite things or hobbies. You can paint a favorite quote, draw a portrait of Dad, or create an abstract piece using his favorite colors. Frame the artwork or attach it directly to a canvas for display.
You can let your kids create fun wall art using spray paint. Or let your kids paint their favorite dad jokes onto a poster or canvas.
DIY Memory Jar
We never seem to express our appreciation for our dads often enough. Creating a memory jar can be one of the best gifts to show your dad how much you care for them.
Decorate a jar and fill it with small notes describing favorite memories or reasons why Dad is the best. Cut colorful paper into small strips, write heartfelt messages on each one, and fold them accordion-style. Fill the jar with these memories, and decorate the lid with ribbons or a label that says “Dad’s Memories.” He can pull out a note whenever he needs a pick-me-up.
Customized Dad Rocks
One of my favorite creative ideas for younger children is rock painting. This activity can work for all special occasions, and it doesn’t require adult supervision. So it’s one of the best ideas to give your kids on a day when you have a busy schedule.
Collect smooth rocks and paint them with colorful designs or heartfelt messages. Use acrylic paints or paint pens to create intricate patterns or write inspiring messages. Seal the designs with a clear varnish to protect them. Arrange the painted rocks in a decorative bowl or place them strategically in Dad’s garden or office as small reminders of your love.
Personalized Grill Set
Customize a grill set with Dad’s name or a special message using metal engraving tools. Choose high-quality grilling utensils, such as spatulas, tongs, and forks, and engrave the handles with the desired design. Consider adding a personalized touch by attaching a small metal plate with his name or initials to the carrying case.

Homemade BBQ Spice Rub
If your dad enjoys grilling and experimenting with different flavors, a homemade BBQ spice rub will make an excellent gift. Research different spice combinations and find a recipe that suits your dad’s taste preferences.
Some common ingredients include paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Mix the spices together and store the blend in a decorative jar or tin. To add a personal touch, create a custom label with your dad’s name or a fun message.
DIY Leather Keychain
Create a personalized keychain for your dad using leather or faux leather. Cut out a shape of your choice, such as a heart, a square, or his favorite sports team logo. Punch a hole in the top and attach a keyring.
You can make the keychain more special by stamping his initials or a short message onto the leather using metal stamps or markers designed for leather. If you’re feeling creative, you can also add small decorative elements like beads or charms. Cutting machines like a Cricut or Silhouette can also be great ways to imprint leather.
Homemade Shaving Cream
Treat your dad to a luxurious and personalized shaving cream by making one from natural ingredients. Research different recipes and find one that suits his skin type and preferences.
Ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, essential oils (such as sandalwood, cedarwood, or lavender), and aloe vera gel can be used to create a moisturizing and fragrant shaving cream. Whip the ingredients together until they form a creamy texture, and store the shaving cream in a jar or container. You can add a label with your dad’s name or a funny quote to give it a personalized touch.
DIY Desk Organizer
If your dad has a cluttered workspace, a DIY desk organizer can help him stay organized and add a touch of personalization to his desk. There are various materials you can use to create the organizer, such as wooden blocks, tin cans, or sturdy cardboard.
Paint or decorate each component in your dad’s favorite colors or patterns. Arrange the blocks or cans to create compartments for pens, sticky notes, paper clips, and other office supplies. You can also add labels or small photos to each compartment for a personalized touch.
Handwritten Letter
A heartfelt and sincere letter can be one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your dad. Set aside some time to reflect on your relationship with him and think about the impact he has had on your life. Write a letter expressing your gratitude, love, and appreciation.
Share specific memories or moments that have had a lasting impact on you, and highlight the qualities you admire in him. Consider handwriting the letter on special stationery or using decorative pens. Present it in a beautiful envelope or frame it, allowing your dad to keep and cherish it forever.
