Supernatural intrigue, a web of lies, and deadly secrets
When a loyal customer begs Tabby Quigsly to look into her uncle’s suspicious death, Tabby can’t
say no—even if the police rule it an accident. Dr. Willim Rosemont, a respected psychiatrist,
took a fatal tumble down Savannah’s infamous Stone Stairs of Death, but the five people who
were with him that night all claim to have seen nothing.

Tabby’s ties to the case run deep—friends, frenemies, and even her husband’s best friend are
among the witnesses. Then she uncovers a chilling truth: Rosemont was part of Savannah’s
hidden Paranormal Council—the very group Tabby’s been hiding from all her life.
As the August heat rises, so does the pressure. Tabby’s new marriage is reeling from revelations
about her husband’s shocking powers, her psychic gifts are spiraling, and the killer is closing in.
Can she unravel the mystery before everything—including her freedom—goes up in flames?

Character Guest Post Sage speaks out

By Sage Winslow of A Magic Candle Shop Mysteries

Hey, everyone out there in reader world! My name is Sage Winslow. I’m the “other” Winslow, not the brilliant one who solves crimes. Sure, I help my twin sister Tabby investigate, but she’s the brains of this outfit.
It didn’t always used to be that way. You see, I was born a few minutes before my sister, so as the oldest I had a natural birth-order role as the older sister. For many years, I was the one that was the leader and protector, but along the way things changed.
For one thing, I got distracted by guys. I like spending time with them and doing things with them. I’ve always felt something was missing inside of me, some place in my heart that needed filling. While I was sorting all this out, my sister began looking out for us.
I didn’t begrudge her the role. She took to it like a duck to water. She always helped me.
Truth be told, our mom and aunt did too. As it turns out, my paranormal talent vested incompletely. I can use my energy talent to share or take energy from people, but I couldn’t recharge fully at night. I constantly felt half-drained all day. Taking energy from others to get me through was a temporary measure. The only thing that truly worked was for Tabby to share her energy with me. It was like getting a tank full high-test gas in that it had more oomph and staying power.
I rebelled against everything, of course, because it was my nature to push every boundary. Much to my surprise, my twin was right about the man I needed in my life. My former coworker Larry Rau was a good friend. Even when the nursery we worked at went out of business, we stayed in touch. I always felt comfortable around him. And, embarrassingly, I took him for granted.
But this summer we finally got things right. We became a couple in all senses of the word. And as cliché as it sounds, he completes me. Something about him fixed my nightly recharger, and I feel positively ENERGIZED all the time. I don’t even have it in me to be grouchy anymore. Well, most of the time. You can’t expect me to lose that character trait.
This case we’re chasing in FLAMED OUT is a doozy. The head of a secret organization was killed and three different sets of people asked Tabby for help: the man’s great niece, the Savannah Police Department, and the Paranormal Council. Of these, the council surprised the heck out of me. Even more surprising is the dead guy was the big Kahuna of the council, the group my twin and I have been hiding from our entire lives.
The earth was moving but in a very bad way. Assumed truths weren’t as they seemed and vice versa. My twin and I pulled together and sorted through the tangled knot of truth and lies. We uncovered some very bad behavior hidden in Savannah, GA’s shadows and at the same time learned that our late mom had it right all along. Who’d have thunk?
