In the close-knit town of Auburn, Oregon, Andi Clark’s therapy animals bring comfort to the
community, especially during the holiday season. As the annual Christmas Craft Bazaar draws
near, Andi agrees to set up a Petting Zoo with her beloved animals, bringing smiles to the faces
of children and adults alike.
But when a young girl seeks solace from Athena, Andi’s therapy dog, after witnessing an
unsettling scene behind the sleigh, it marks the beginning of a much darker holiday. As the town
gathers for the Tree Lighting Ceremony, a scream shatters the festive atmosphere. Cocoa, Andi’s
loyal Border Collie, pulls her toward a chilling sight: a woman standing over the lifeless body of
the girl’s mother, strangled with Christmas lights.
Determined to help the grieving girl and her town recover from the shock, Andi, her therapy
animals, and her niece, a county deputy, take it upon themselves to investigate. As they uncover
secrets and untangle clues, they stay one step ahead of the new sheriff and worry that the killer
lurking in their midst could be someone they know.

Author Interview questions:
What is your favorite part of this book and why?
My favorite part of this book is Sparky, the mini donkey. The reason he is my favorite part is because we had two donkeys, but not minis. We received both of them when they were aged, but we managed to have 15 or more years with each of them before they passed. They both had unique personalities, loved kids, and made me smile or laugh nearly every day at their antics. I’m hoping to bring a smile or two to readers as they read about the Cuddle Crew.
If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?
I would love to spend time with any of the therapy animals, but to pick a human character, it would be the main character, Andi. I like her desire to help the underdog, or in the case of this book, a young girl. If we spent time together, it would probably be with our dogs. We’d walk them and spend time talking about them and life.
What books/authors have most inspired you?
This question is always tough. Reading books by Dick Francis, Agatha Christie, Dorothy Gilman, Sue Grafton, and Tony Hillerman are what inspired me to write murder mystery books. I like the mysteries that are set in small towns or communities where you have to dig into the gossip and history of the people to learn why something happened.
Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
All of my characters have a touch of someone I’ve known or met in my lifetime. It’s the only way to make characters real and relatable is if you have encountered someone like them before.
What made you want to become a writer?
I have been writing for fun my whole life. As a child, I wrote plays that my brother and I acted out with stuffed animals. As a teen, I wrote an ongoing story with two of my friends. In college, my writing teacher encouraged me to keep writing. But when I realized that by writing and putting my characters in dangerous situations it stopped me worrying about my family when they were away from me. That’s when I knew I had to keep writing.
All my pent-up anxiety is put into my writing and leaves my life worry-free.
