Author Interview

How would you best describe your book, The Guerrilla Guide for Entrepreneurs?

The Guerrilla Guide for Entrepreneurs & The Rest of Us is an action-packed, high-octane playbook that delivers skills, insights, opportunities, and occasional wit. It takes the reader to a place where old-school grit and new-school AI reconcile! It is a place where Elon Musk meets Jack Ma and a Harvard MBA encounters the Streets.

How can this book help a reader with respect to their career?

You may be working in an organization, in management, a gig worker, running a business, or
creating the next Nvidia. Either way, this book equips you with actionable know-how and skills that are nothing short of life-changing and saves the empowerment hype for the fictional section of the library.
There are too many books that promise an easy fix, but The Guerrilla Guide for Entrepreneurs takes my 30 years of business experience, along with my time as a business professor, and delivers. I bring you behind the scenes with tales from the streets, to mentors, to Negotiations – sales, financing, and brand-building, then we visit AI and I drop you into a world not yet imagined!

What do you mean by Profit Sanctuaries and can you give examples?
Take Apple as an example. With a 24 percent market share in China, it can treat those earnings as a profit sanctuary to defend its domestic market. How? Apple can leverage its profits in China to lower pricing in the U.S. (where it holds 21 percent market share) and fend off rivals such as Samsung, LG, and Huawei. The profits abroad offset slimmer margins at home.
This, of course, assumes anything is truly ā€œdomesticā€ anymore— most global corporations are intellectually nationless, carrying global passports, if you will.
A company can also flip this strategy by selling at near cost in foreign markets to gain share or weaken a rival’s footing at home. Imagine Dell attacking Lenovo’s laptop sales in China with cutthroat pricing; Lenovo would struggle to mount a counterattack in the U.S. without a profit sanctuary of its own.
So, in the case of OpenAI, it is very susceptible to a frontal assault, since Gemeni (Google), Grok (X) and Co-Pilot ( Microsoft) can reduce its margins and offset it with a host of wider business services and software.

What is the psyche of the Entrepreneur – what sets them apart?
The psyche of the entrepreneur is rooted in a conscious rejection of certainty. While most people choose the safety of predictable paths, entrepreneurs accept uncertainty as the cost of discovering who they might become. Certainty offers comfort—but it also carries a quiet tragedy: the regret of unrealized potential. In history, the pursuit of the uncertain has always been the most benevolent gift of the human condition.
Entrepreneurs understand that life is finite and time is a rare gift. To them, uncertainty is not a threat but a by-product of pursuing purpose. They learn to reconcile with the unknown, resist complacency, and test the boundaries of what’s possible—not out of recklessness, but obligation.
To the entrepreneur, this path is both magnificent and tragic—bound together in a life driven by intrinsic purpose rather than comfort. In the AI seismic shift, everyone needs to get used to employment uncertainty, and this alone makes the study of the entrepreneur essential.

In the Guerrilla Guide for Entrepreneurs & the Rest of Us, you mentioned the three stages of Business denial in the Face of disruptive technology? Please elaborate.

  1. Mockery — ā€œIt’s just a fad.ā€
Companies ridicule or ignore the shift.
ā— The internet was dismissed in the 1990s as a novelty.
ā— Kodak ignored digital photography despite owning the patents.
    ā— Blockbuster laughed off Netflix.
ā— Mainstream media mocked creators—until audiences left.
  2. Resistance — ā€œIt’s dangerous or irrelevant to us.ā€
ā— Firms defend legacy models and fight the disruptor.
ā— Taxi unions sued Uber instead of innovating.
ā— Print newspapers resisted digital and are relatively a relic
ā— Sears failed to adapt with its catalogue as Amazon scaled.
ā— Xerox invented the GUI but couldn’t see past photocopiers.
  3. Panic — ā€œWe need to catch up.ā€
ā— Late adoption—when leadership is no longer possible.
ā— Nokia rushed smartphones after Apple set the standard.
ā— Big banks pivoted to crypto after years of dismissal.
ā— Brick & Morter retailers built weak digital tools, often too late.
ā— U.S. automakers ignored small cars until oil shocks forced change.
