I’ve been staring at the calendar for the last few days, wondering where February went and how the hell it’s now March. I barely remember Valentine’s Day, let alone being prepared for St. Patrick’s Day.
Sometimes, I think it was easier pre-business owner, when most of the holidays didn’t matter to me. I’m Irish, but not enough to really celebrate St. Patty’s Day, besides enjoying the free opportunity to pinch the kiddos. (Don’t judge, they’re assholes).

Trying to keep up with the holidays in a craft business can seem exhausting and overwhelming at times. You have to start stocking, making, and marketing your designs weeks before the holiday gets here. Often, before the last holiday has even passed. Yeah, yk how the stores do, rushing the Christmas decorations before Halloween has even ended.
Thank God for resources that plan and prep months ahead of time. I’ve got a massive stock of resources ready to launch. And yet no time or idea on how to get them all listed and marketed.

Making Money From Baby Shower Gifts
Last week, we attended a baby shower for my second niece. I’m super pumped, as any auntie would be over the news of an upcoming bundle of joy.
Mommy-to-be is a first time mommy, so while everyone else loaded her up with the essentials, my crafty brain decided to give her some cute things to enjoy. While these onesies aren’t picture-perfect or money-ready, they’ll work for the regular daily days of lounging around the house. And once baby GG outgrows them in a few weeks – it happens fast! – we’ll chop them up and turn them into an adorable memorabilia quilt!

Work-Life Balance for Work-From-Home Parents
Being a work-from-home parent can be chaotic and stressful if you don’t have the self-discipline to stay organized and on task.
Home-life often invades on your work-life if you aren’t careful. Balancing work and parenting of small humans is a struggle and a juggle. Toss in animals and a small business (or several in my case) and you’ve got a circus with you as the inexperienced and unprepared ringleader.
Over the years, I’ve developed several parenting hacks for work-from-home productivity, including time management for work from home parents tools like meal planning, brain dumps, daily planners, calendars, PLRs, using AIs like Bertha and Chat.agi, and cleaning lists.
When you’re a small business owner, or you’re just starting out with a work-from-home endeavor, you may struggle with creating a work-from-home routine as a parent. I’ll give you a secret – I don’t have one! I have a list of things I need to do each day. But I don’t force myself to do them in a specific order.
The best thing about being a work-from-home business owner is flexible work arrangements for parents. You can change your schedule at a moment’s notice to take care of a sick kid. Or you can adjust your plans to cover a kid’s doctor’s appointment. Struggling to remember when your kids’ have doctor’s checkups, birthday parties, and sporting events? Pick up this MY CHILD’s LIFE planner and print out a sheet for each kid. It makes a great addition to this pet care daily planner.
Getting Rich By Not Spending Money
As any parent – or adult – will tell you, life is expensive. Whether it’s food for your people or your pets or cleaning products to keep your house cozy and clean, everything you buy these days comes at a major hit to your bank account.
The trick to getting rich while working from home is to not spend the money that you’re making in your small business. Even better, make money from the ways that you’re saving money.
Instead of buying expensive commercial dog foods and treats to feed your doggos, protect them and your wallet from the harmful fillers and chemicals by making your own dog foods. For only $5.99, you can get this excellent recipe book for Homemade Dog Foods that you can make in your kitchen with fresh human ingredients. And even better, you can make these treats and foods and sell them as a side hustle or a primary business model.
And save your bank account even more money by growing your own produce. Gardening is a great stress reliever and you can sell your harvests as a passive income. If your children are frequently asking for money or complaining that they want to buy something, teach them early about business ownership. Let them help with gardening and selling what they grow and harvest.
Are you the kind of shopper that goes into a store for three things and ends up walking out a few hundred dollars later with everything except what you needed? Skip the shopping guilt and the hit on your wallet by sticking to a list or by ordering through InstaCart.
A final tip for saving money while running a small business and being a work-from-home parent is to skip the expenses of shopping for harmful cleaning chemicals. You can save thousands of dollars yearly by going green and using only all-natural cleaning products that you’ve made yourself. Or take a note from the playbook of the profitable Cleaning Mama blog and sell the cleaning products you’ve DIY made.
