Gabby Heart travels to a remote Scottish castle with her best friend, Abe—a bestselling
children’s author—expecting misty views, historic charm, and quiet time to plan their next book
series. But Brantmar Castle holds more than ghosts of the past. When the women are taken
hostage, Gabby must rely on her instincts, her resilience, and the help of men who may not
deserve her trust to survive.
Meanwhile, on Dost Island, young residents are vanishing without a trace. As those left behind
scramble for answers, unsettling clues emerge—leading to a dark motive no one could have
predicted.
From the storm-swept highlands of Scotland to the rocky shores of New England, Captive Heart
at Brantmar Castle blends mystery, emotional grit, simmering romance, and humor, in a story
where secrets run deep… and time is running out.
Two mysteries. One fight for survival. And danger closing in from both sides of the sea.
A slow-burn romantic suspense with an edgy cozy mystery twist peppered with humor, Captive
Heart at Brantmar Castle is perfect for fans of strong women over 40, amateur sleuths, brooding
men with buried secrets, and adventure in small seaside towns and exotic locales hiding deadly
truths.
About Celeste Fenton

My writing is fueled by a lifelong love of mystery and a fascination with the complexities of the
human heart. As a widow, mother of adult twin sons, proud grandmother, dog lover, and semi-
retired educator, I believe I have enough real-world experience to weave imagination with insight
to create stories rich with emotion and suspense.
When I’m not writing, reading, or plotting another plot twist, I like to explore small towns across
America—setting out solo for month-long adventures much to the awe (and occasional alarm) of
family and friends. My latest obsessions include escape rooms, mastering the perfect miter cut
for a DIY bathroom remodel, training my cavalier spaniel to do a high five, and making the
impossible decision of where to travel next.

A Character Interview with Abigail “Abe” Tuff
By Celeste Fenton
NOTE: Readers briefly meet Abigail “Abe” Tuff in Lost Heart in King Manor. Abe has a much
larger role in Captive Heart at Brantmar Castle as Gabby Heart’s quiet anchor—proof that
strength doesn’t always shout and that some of the bravest hearts speak softly.
I don’t really like to talk about myself. I prefer to keep my life private. But my author, Celeste Fenton,
has asked me to help her out with this interview… so go ahead. Ask your questions.
Describe yourself.
I think I’m someone who feels things deeply—sometimes too deeply—but I’ve learned not to be
ashamed of that. I’m gentle by nature, observant, and careful with people’s hearts, especially
children’s. I believe safety matters. Kindness matters. And words matter more than most people
realize.
What makes you laugh?
Unexpected moments. Dry humor. My husband, Miles, knows how to make me laugh with just a look
and a wink. He teases me in that affectionate way that says, You belong here.
Music makes me laugh too—especially when my son plays something new and looks up to see if I’m
listening. He’s a wonderful musician, has a band, and is finishing his degree at Boston University.
Are you afraid of anything?
Raised voices still make my chest tighten. I’m afraid of failing the people who trust me. I’m afraid of
the idea that safety can be temporary. My past… my parents… well, I’ve learned fear doesn’t get to
make my choices anymore.
Do you have a special talent or gift?
I know how to make children feel safe through my stories. I write worlds where nothing bad sneaks up
on you, where kindness is dependable, and where adults protect instead of harm. That ability comes
from knowing exactly what it feels like when the world doesn’t feel safe at all.
Do you have a secret?
I still struggle to believe I deserve the life I have—the love, the calm, the happiness. Some part of me
is always waiting for the other shoe to drop. But I’m working on trusting that it won’t.
Tell us about your family.
Family, for me, is chosen as much as it is given. Gabby’s mother, Connie, and Lola’s mother, Betty,
saved me when I was a kid. When they found out what was happening in my home… well, that
changed everything. I moved between their houses, an unofficial foster kid who finally learned what
safety looked like.
I married my high school sweetheart, Miles. He is steady and kind—my big bear. Together, we’ve built
a wonderful life with our son.
Who is the most important person in your life?
That’s impossible to answer with just one name. Miles and Nate are my world. Gabby and Lola saved
my life by telling the truth. Connie and Betty rescued me with their bravery and determination.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
I once froze during a reading at a school—completely blanked on my own words. Gabby turned
around in her seat and said, “It’s okay. You can start again.” I wanted to crawl under the table… and
hug her forever.
What do you do for fun?
I love the water and take walks near our home in Boston and at our condo on Dost Island. I listen to
music—especially live performances when Nate plays. I love the GAL nights that Gabby, Lola, and I
have together. I love to write and am constantly jotting down ideas for new stories, which Gabby turns
into illustrations that feel like magic. Quiet joy is my favorite kind.
If you could change anything about your life, what would it be?
I wish I had known sooner that none of what happened to me as a child was my fault. I spent too
many years thinking I had to earn safety or love instead of accepting it when it was offered.
Tell me about your author.
Celeste listens to us—even when we wake her up in the middle of the night with story ideas. I don’t
envy her having to referee the arguments between Rick and Jay. Or the way Gabby denies her
attraction to a certain somebody… although I think Celeste may have gotten her way in writing that
romance.
I’m not entirely happy with how she ended Captive Heart at Brantmar Castle, but she’s promised me
there are good things in store in the next novel, Broken Heart at Avalon Chateau. I’m choosing to
trust her. For now.
Do you like the way Celeste writes you?
Yes. She treats my story with respect. She doesn’t sensationalize pain or rush healing. She
understands that strength can be soft and that survival doesn’t always look dramatic. She
listens—especially when silence matters.
She doesn’t push me to be outrageous like Lola, or impossibly curious like Gabby. She lets me be
gentle without being weak. She lets me carry the past without being defined by it. And she lets me
love fiercely—my friends, my family, and the children who read my books.
That feels right.
