FOR THE ONES WE STILL CARRY WITH US

Rainbow Bridge
Some goodbyes never quite stop being hellos in our memories.
They were there for ordinary Tuesdays, terrible days, celebrations, quiet mornings, road trips, bedtime routines, crumbs dropped under the table, and thousands of moments we didn’t realize we’d miss someday.
The ones who loved us without needing much explanation.
The ones whose absence somehow takes up space.
Here, we remember them.
They Were Here
They leave behind more than empty beds, unused leashes, quiet cages, or a favorite spot nobody else quite knows what to do with.
They leave pieces of themselves everywhere.
In the Ordinary Things
The sound you still expect to hear at the door. The place beside you on the couch. The crumbs nobody is waiting underneath the table to catch anymore.
Ordinary things become memories before we realize we’re making them.
In the Stories
The ridiculous thing they did once that you’ve told a hundred times. The nickname that made absolutely no sense. The habits that drove you crazy until you’d give almost anything to see them do it again.
Keep telling the stories.
In Us
The routines they changed. The comfort they gave. The years they shared with us—and the ways loving them changed who we became.
Some paw prints don’t wash away.
Leave a Memory at the Bridge
Every animal leaves a different story behind.
Tell us their name. Tell us the thing they always did. The way they found you. The years you had together—or the years you wish you’d had.
Share the story that still makes you laugh.
Share the one that still makes you cry.
However you remember them is the right way to remember them.
Who are you remembering?
Leave a little piece of their story here.
A note about shared memories: Memories selected for public sharing may be reviewed before appearing at Rainbow Bridge. Your name, email, or other contact information will never be published with your memory.
Remembered Here
Some neighbors choose to keep their memories quietly at the Bridge.
Others leave a little piece of their friend’s story behind for the rest of us to find.
These are some of the ones we’re remembering today.
The Things They Taught Us
They couldn’t give advice.
That didn’t stop them from teaching us an awful lot.
Show Up
They didn’t care whether the house was clean, the plan worked, or we had our lives figured out.
Being there was usually enough.
Find the Good Stuff
The sunny patch on the floor. A car ride. A cardboard box. The word walk. Something mysteriously fascinating under the refrigerator.
Joy doesn’t always need a very good reason.
Love Without Keeping Score
They didn’t count who called first, who apologized last, or whether we’d earned another chance.
They just kept choosing us.
Maybe that’s why losing them leaves such a big space behind.
When You Miss Them
There isn’t a schedule for this part.
You might be fine for months and then find an old photo. Hear the jingle of another dog’s collar. Reach for the treat jar out of habit. Dream about them and wake up missing them all over again.
You might laugh at a memory and cry about the exact same one five minutes later.
That’s allowed.
Missing them doesn’t mean you’re stuck in the past.
It just means someone who mattered isn’t here in quite the same way anymore.
And whenever you need somewhere to remember them, the Bridge will still be here. 💜

The Guardian of the Bridge
If you look near the entrance to the Bridge, you’ll find someone keeping watch.
His name is Zeus.
For thirteen years, he was deeply loved, enormously spoiled, occasionally ridiculous, and apparently convinced that 100 pounds was an entirely reasonable size for a lapdog.
When Zeus crossed Rainbow Bridge, the idea for this quiet corner of Sarandipity began with him.
So a little piece of him stays here.
Not because this Bridge belongs to Zeus.
Because without Zeus, there wouldn’t have been a Bridge at all.
He stands watch for every name left here, every story shared, and every neighbor who comes looking for somewhere to remember.
And, presumably, remains deeply suspicious of feathers.
Take All the Time You Need
There’s no hurry to cross back.
Stay with the memories awhile. Say their name one more time. Tell the story that always makes you laugh.
And when you’re ready, the path will still be there.
Reflection Pond is just across the Bridge, and the wildflowers aren’t much farther beyond.
The ones we love become part of the places we carry with us.
