Welcome to Osage Springs, where small-town charm meets big trouble.

When Claire O’Keefe’s father suffers a stroke, she puts her plans to teach overseas on hold and returns home to Osage Springs, Arkansas. Between caring for her parents and reconnecting with her roots, she expects a quiet few months—until a chance encounter at the grocery store changes everything.

An old high school classmate, now an English teacher at Lakeside High, asks Claire to fill in during her maternity leave. It sounds simple enough—grading essays, managing teenagers, and maybe sneaking in a lakeside walk or two. But when a fellow teacher is found dead in Beaver Lake, the sleepy Ozark town turns tense, and Claire once again finds herself drawn into a mystery she can’t ignore.

This time, the sheriff’s department is asking for volunteers to aid the search, and Claire can’t resist lending a hand. But as secrets rise to the surface, she begins to wonder if the lake is hiding more than just one deadly truth.

Can Claire help solve the case before the next body surfaces… or will she be the one caught beneath the calm, cold water?

Character Interview

Describe yourself.
I am a thirty-year-old English as a Foreign Language teacher who is naturally curious and
sometimes asks a few too many questions. I am loyal to the people I love, a little stubborn when
something does not feel right, and always trying to do my best. I like to think I am practical, but
somehow trouble still seems to find me.

What makes you laugh?
Awkward moments definitely make me laugh, mostly because if I did not, I would probably
panic. I also love watching animals and their silly antics. My dad and I have always bonded over
funny pet videos and random animal stories.

Are you afraid of anything?
Losing the people I love is my biggest fear. After my dad’s health scare, that worry became very
real. I am also afraid of making the wrong choices and wondering later if I should have done
things differently.

Do you have a special talent or gift?
I am good at noticing little things that others might miss. A strange look, a detail that does not
quite fit, or a story that feels a little off. It is probably a mix of curiosity, intuition, and not
knowing when to let things go.

Do you have a secret?
I worry more than I admit. I want to make my family proud and live up to their expectations, and
sometimes I am afraid of falling short.

Tell us about your family.
I am an only child with an American dad and a Korean mom, and growing up in two cultures
shaped who I am in the best way. My parents taught me kindness, responsibility, and the
importance of looking out for others. They are my foundation, and coming home always reminds
me how much their love means to me.

Who is the most important person in your life?
My parents will always be my anchors. They have supported me every step of the way and
encouraged me to follow my dreams. And now that I have met Aiden, he has become incredibly
important to me too. I am lucky to have so much love in my life.

What is your most embarrassing moment?
Most of my embarrassing moments involve tripping, spilling something, or saying the wrong
thing at the wrong time, usually in front of way too many people. The good news is that I have
learned to laugh at myself instead of hiding.

What do you do for fun?
I love scuba diving, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with people who make me
feel at home. Traveling and learning about new places always inspires me. I am also a huge
foodie and love discovering local restaurants and trying anything that looks delicious.

If you could change anything about your life, what would it be?
I wish I trusted myself more. I tend to overthink and second-guess my decisions, even when my
instincts are usually right. I am working on being a little braver about following my heart.

Tell me about your author.
Cindy is kind, thoughtful, and wonderfully supportive, although she does have a habit of putting
me in dangerous situations. She gives me strong roots, loving relationships, and just enough
courage to face whatever mystery comes my way.

Do you like the way they write you?
I do. She lets me be real. I am not perfect, and I do not always have the answers, but I try my
best. She reminds readers and me that you do not have to be fearless to be brave. You just have to
keep showing up.
