Schoolhouse Park
Put down the pencil. It’s time for recess.
Out behind the Schoolhouse is a place where nobody asks you to sit still.
There are puzzles to solve, things to find, games to play, challenges to try, pictures to color, and plenty of reasons to wonder what’s hiding around the next corner.
Some of it might even teach you something.
We won’t tell if you don’t.
Bring your imagination. Follow whatever looks fun.
And if someone asks what you’re doing?
Tell them you’re at recess.
Pick Your Fun
There is absolutely no schedule for recess.
Choose whatever sounds fun, change your mind halfway through, or try a little bit of everything.
Games & Puzzles
Ready, set, figure it out.
Games, puzzles, brain teasers, secret codes, mazes, and other things made for kids who can’t resist a challenge.
Scavenger Hunts
There’s something out there waiting to be found.
Grab a list, start looking, and turn an ordinary afternoon, walk, road trip, holiday, or day at home into an adventure.
Screen-Free Fun
For when somebody says the two most horrifying words imaginable:
“No screens.”
Activities, boredom busters, challenges, and ideas that prove there are, in fact, other ways to survive an afternoon.
Color & Create
Grab the crayons, markers, pencils, scissors, glue—or whatever Mom says you’re allowed to use.
Coloring, drawing, creative activities, simple crafts, and plenty of excuses to make something.
Imagination Station
No batteries required.
Pretend, invent, tell stories, build worlds, complete creative challenges, and see what happens when there’s no right answer.
Just for Fun
Does it need to be educational?
Nope.
Sometimes the entire point is laughing, playing, being ridiculous, and having something fun to do.
We fully support this curriculum.
The Recess Challenge
Sometimes you know exactly what you want to play.
Other times you need someone to say, “Okay, try this.”
That’s what Recess Challenges are for.
Try Something New
Pick something you’ve never done before.
A new game. A weird challenge. A puzzle that looks impossible. Something creative you’re pretty sure you’re terrible at.
You might surprise yourself.
Make Up the Rules
Who says every game needs instructions?
Change the rules. Invent a challenge. Create your own version. Make something completely ridiculous.
If everybody agrees that’s how the game works now, that’s how the game works now.
Challenge Somebody
Some things are simply more fun when bragging rights are involved.
Challenge a sibling, friend, parent, grandparent—or the grown-up who keeps claiming they’re “really good at this.”
Proceed accordingly. 😏
Take Recess With You
Schoolhouse Park may live on the Hill, but recess can happen pretty much anywhere.
Pack a little fun and take it with you.
Rainy Days
When outside isn’t happening and everyone has already announced “I’m bored” fourteen times.
Pull out a puzzle, start a challenge, make something, or find a new way to play inside.
On the Road
Road trips, airplanes, hotel rooms, and the eternal question:
“Are we there yet?”
Bring along games, scavenger hunts, activities, and other distractions for the miles between here and there.
While You Wait
Restaurants. Appointments. Sibling practices. Waiting rooms.
All those places where five minutes somehow lasts approximately three business days.
A little activity can save the day.
Just Because
You don’t actually need a reason.
Take something outside. Invite a friend over. Spread everything across the kitchen table. Make up a game with your siblings.
Recess doesn’t need an occasion.

Need something to do?
This is where we keep the games, activity packs, puzzles, creative challenges, screen-free fun, and other things made for kids who would rather do something than hear another grown-up suggest they “go find something to do.”
Pick something that looks fun.
That’s the only assignment.
Sometimes Play Starts a Question
That’s one of our favorite things about recess.
You start with a game, a scavenger hunt, a pile of crayons, or something you were doing just because it looked fun…
and suddenly you want to know why, how, where, when, or what happens next.
Luckily, the Schoolhouse is right up the path.

Recess Isn’t Over Yet
Eventually the bell will ring.
The chalk gets gathered up. The game pieces go back in the basket. Somebody remembers where they left their backpack.
But there’s no rule that says you have to stop playing just because you’re leaving the Park.
Take the game home.
Keep looking for things worth discovering.
Make something weird. Invent your own rules. Get a little messy. Be ridiculous.
And the next time somebody says—
“Go find something to do.”
You’ll know exactly where to start.
