When Cathy Jefferson’s builder is found dead at the construction site of her new home, she’s pulled into a murder investigation that will test her detective skills like never before.
While sorting through her grandmother’s attic, Cathy uncovers a secret about her parents, who died in a car crash years earlier. Now juggling two cases and determined to learn the truth about her parents’ death and catch her builder’s killer, Cathy teams up with her fellow detectives Nancy and Howard.
Their investigation leads them to a ranch where a prize bull is kept, and to Cathy’s estranged uncle and her college roommate. As secrets unravel and danger closes in from every direction, Cathy discovers that the biggest surprise of all may still be waiting for her.
Will Cathy catch her builder’s killer so that her new home can be finished, and will she receive closure about the death of her parents? Find out in THE CASE OF THE BULLFIGHTING BUILDER, the sixth book in the Buttercup Bend Mysteries series by Debbie De Louise.

Character Interview
Describe yourself.
My name is Cathy Jefferson. I’m curious. I love animals. I’m close to my family.
What makes you laugh?
The silly things my cats do and the other pets at my animal rescue centers.
Are you afraid of anything?
I’ve been involved in six murders and have come close to death during my investigations, so I would say I’m afraid of becoming one of the victims I try to find justice for.
Do you have a special talent or gift?
I’m great with animals, and I have a good eye for photography. My photos appear often in the Buttercup Bugle, my town’s newspaper.
Do you have a secret?
No. I’m an open book, but I have revealed many secrets during my investigations.
Tell us about your family.
After my parents died in a car crash in which I was injured, my brother and I moved in with my grandmother. She is a wise woman and is active in our community. My brother now lives next door with his wife and young son. He’s a postman and is co-owner with me of the pet rescue centers and pet cemetery.
Who is the most important person in your life?
Currently, that’s my husband, Steve, but Gran and my brother Doug are also very important to me, as is my est friend, Nancy who is also a detective.
What do you do for fun?
Playing with my cats and other animals as well as taking photos are my main hobbies. I also like to walk around Buttercup Bend.
If you could change anything about your life what would it be?
I would go back to the day my parents were killed and, now knowing who killed them, I would stop them.
Tell me about your author.
Debbie writes two other cozy mystery series besides mine. She also writes standalone mysteries, short stories, poetry, and other genres. She currently has published 25 books.
Do you like the way they write you?
Yes. I enjoy the way she’s developed my character from book to book.
What mystery are you planning to solve next?
There’s a teaser at the end of The Case of the Bullfighting Builder where Nancy and I go for our doctor’s visit and learn that she’s been murdered. The tentative title of the book is The Case of the Octopus Owning Obstetrician.
