Itโs autumn in Vermont, and the mountains are ablaze with color, just in time for Stonebridgeโs annual harvest festival. The village is swarming with leaf-peeping tourists, and the celebration is off to a jubilant start as residents gather for their favorite kick-off event: a masquerade party on the village green. But the crisp fall air turns chilling when a party guest is found lifeless and another is whisked away in an ambulance, on the verge of death.
Photographer Bobbie Brooks vows to leave the investigation to the professionals until a tearful plea from a friend causes her to shift her focus from merriment to murder. The Stonebridge Keep it Snappy Shutter Club is on another case as Bobbie plunges into the world of herbal poisons and masked motives. The truth is concealed in the details captured through her lens. But as everything comes into focus, Bobbie finds herself in danger once again. Can she unmask the killer before the killer zooms in on her?

Character Interview
Describe yourself.
First, thanks so much for hosting me today!
Iโm tall. I only mention it because it seems to be the first thing people notice about me.
Iโm a photographer, so youโll probably also notice my ever-present camera hanging from my neck. I also like to think Iโm kind and that I have a good sense of humor.
What makes you laugh?
So many things. I laugh at myself a lot. And my friend, Rose, always makes me laugh.
Life has so many ups and downs. If I didnโt find ways to laugh, Iโd probably cry way too much.
Are you afraid of anything?
If youโre asking about phobias, I canโt really think of any. But yeah, Iโve been in some scary situationsโmostly dealing with killers. So Iโll say yes, Iโm afraid of murderers.
Do you have a special talent or gift?
Iโm a decent photographer, and Iโm good at dealing with people. Are those gifts, or are they just tenacity on my part? Iโm not sure I can judge.
Do you have a secret?
One of my biggest faults is wearing my heart on my sleeve. Secrets? No, Iโm pretty much an open book.
Tell us about your family.
Well, first, Iโm a widow. I lost my husband suddenly (brain aneurysms are like that) nearly two years ago. We have a twenty-three-year-old daughter, Emma, who is the light of my life. She lives in Boston, where she works as an oncology nurse.
My sister, Alicia, lives on a nearby farm with her husband, Nate. Alicia can be a bit bossy at times, but I honestly donโt know what Iโd do without her or Nate. Theyโre my rocks.
Then thereโs my mom, Fiona. Our relationship has always been a little complicated, but weโre making progress.
Who is the most important person in your life?
My daughter, Emma. Sheโs pretty much the culmination of everything good thatโs happened in my life.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
Just one? Well, the most recent experience to come to mind happened just the other night. Thereโs a new guy in Stonebridge, and letโs just say heโs ridiculously handsomeโtall, dark hair, emerald green eyes, and the most beguiling barely-there smile. A few months ago, he came walking into the Mad Crow Tavern, where I was talking with a friend, and when our eyes met, I nearly fell from my barstool.
Let me preface this story by mentioning Iโm still grieving my husband, and Iโm most definitely not interested in meeting anyone new. But, a few nights ago, at a large party, I ran into this handsome stranger againโquite literally. It was bad enough that I wasnโt looking where I was going, but when he asked me to dance, in front of all my friends and familyโnot to mention my perfect motherโwell, my dating skills are super rusty.
Not that Iโm planning to date or anything. Enough said.
What do you do for fun?
Lots of things. I enjoy wandering around with my camera. I like to hike with my dog,
Darcy. I love to dance (just not with handsome strangers who make my heart pound). I have a great time getting together with my friend Rose for wine and whine, which usually includes watching a RomCom. I also love hanging out at my sisterโs farm.
If you could change anything about your life what would it be?
If I could have prevented my husbandโs death, I would have. But Iโve come a long way since then, and after a couple of really tough years, I feel like Iโm in a pretty good place.
I think Iโll just let things play out as theyโre supposed to.
Tell me about your author.
Page by page, weโre getting to know each other better. Sheโs okay, I guess. Like me, she enjoys wandering with her camera and hiking with her dog. I think she might be a bit of a chicken because she seems to like solving murder mysteries, but she makes me do all the scary parts!
Do you like the way they write you?
ย Haha! Now thatโs a good question! I guess I wish sheโd stop putting me into situations that make me look so awkward. Okay, yeah, I can be awkward at times. But seriously!
Also, Iโd really rather she stop putting me in harmโs way. I generally think of myself as smart enough to know when to back off, but noโKara doesnโt seem to see it that way.
Fortunately, I havenโt had any major injuries. Yet.
Thanks so much for inviting me to your blog!
